Micro LED in-vehicle display: The leader in the next generation of in-vehicle display technology
At the recent SID 2024 conference, the field of vehicle display has become the focus of competition among major manufacturers. New products of cutting-edge automotive display technologies such as Micro Led, OLED, and Mini LED backlight have been unveiled, attracting many eyes. Micro LED technology, in particular, has become the star of automotive applications with its thin, transparent, highlighting, bezel-less, special-shaped and other characteristics. At this exhibition, BOE, Tianma and AU Optronics and other manufacturers have demonstrated their latestMicro LED vehicle display products, so that we can understand these exciting technological developments.
Micro LED as the next generation of display technology, with its excellent comprehensive display performance, the application in the automotive field is widely optimistic. Its material characteristics are stable, long life, and can operate stably in extreme environments such as high temperature, cold and humidity. These features ensure that drivers can clearly and accurately obtain on-board information under any road and weather conditions, thus improving driving safety. Therefore, major companies have accelerated the layout of the Micro LED vehicle field.
Boe P0.3 COG AM Micro LED bezel-less curved sliding splicing screen
Boe launched the P0.3COG AM Micro LED borderless curved sliding splicing screen at this exhibition, which reached a resolution of 1280*270, peak brightness up to 2000nits, contrast up to 40,000:1, color gamut covering 110% NTSC, realistic and delicate picture quality. This product uses LTPS pixel driver instead of the traditional Micro IC pixel driver, which effectively saves the physical space of pixels. At the same time, it is equipped with thick Cu technology and BOE's unique surface packaging scheme, so that the display screen has ultra-high brightness and ultra-high contrast, presenting clearer and more realistic image effects for the driver. Ensure that it can obtain driving information smoothly and improve driving safety.

The prototype adopts the modular sliding splicing method, which can realize the flexible adjustment of screen layout and display content. The seamless splicing of the large screen display eliminates the interference of the border on the vision, makes the display field of view broad, the picture is continuous and unified, provides the driver with clearer navigation maps and real-time road information, and improves the driving experience. In the sliding separation display mode, the display screen is divided into two parts, and the main and co-driver do not affect each other, taking into account the driving safety and entertainment needs.
Au Micro LED Display HMI solution
Au Optronics' Micro LED Display HMI solution won the "Best Automotive Display Award". Its transparent technology creates a new experience for human-machine interaction. The Micro LED screen in the front seat is transparent, bezel-less, with a 163ppi pixel density and up to 5,000 Nits in sunlight, providing clear driving information and a wide view of traffic. The passenger side screen is the world's first smart Micro LED display with built-in lens, which takes advantage of the low footprint of the Micro LED and is equipped with UDC (Under-Display Camera) technology. The built-in hidden lens releases screen space, provides clear picture quality and intuitive eye contact, and promotes two-way interaction and communication.

Tianma 8.07" High PPI transparent shaped Micro-LED display rearview mirror
Tianma showcases the 8.07" high PPI transparent shaped Micro-LED display rearview mirror, which achieves high transparency, fine picture quality and flexible free shape octagonal design through innovative pixel design scheme and refined TFT stacking process. In addition, Tianma also showed the 9.38" transparent Micro-LED display armrest screen, with a transparency of up to 70%, achieving a perfect fusion between beauty and technology.

Tianma 7.6" HUD display
The Tianma 7.6" HUD display uses Micro LED technology to achieve a high brightness of 5,000 Nits. Compared with traditional LCD, it has the advantages of thinner structure, wider color gamut and faster response, and can be applied to the field of automotive front windshield projection display, effectively improving the safety of driving.

With its unique advantages, Micro LED technology has shown great potential in the field of automotive display. Whether in the high temperature desert, cold snow, or wet tropical rain forest, Micro LED's excellent stability and excellent display performance provide a strong guarantee for safe driving. At the SID 2024 conference, BOE, AU Optronics and Tianma and other manufacturers demonstrated new Micro LED in-vehicle display products, which not only represents the highest level of current technology, but also reveals the development direction of future in-vehicle display technology.
