XDC and Lumileds' Groundbreaking Collaboration in Micro-IC MicroLED Display Development
In a significant development in the display technology realm, X Display Company (XDC) has joined forces with Lumileds to co-develop a revolutionary micro-IC microLED display. The two companies have achieved a remarkable milestone by presenting a production-ready 140 PPI prototype.
The key to this achievement lies in the integration of Lumileds' 13x20 micron LEDs with XDC's proprietary microIC backplane technology. This combination not only enables the display to achieve an impressive peak brightness of 2360 nits but also delivers exceptional image quality. The high brightness makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from outdoor signage that requires visibility in bright sunlight to high-end consumer electronics where vivid and clear visuals are crucial.

XDC's mass transfer technology plays a pivotal role in the success of this prototype. With an astounding 99.9998% microLED sub-pixel yield and a 99.992% microIC transfer yield, it ensures the efficient and reliable production of the microLED displays. This high level of precision and efficiency in the manufacturing process significantly reduces production costs and time, making it more viable for mass production.
The production-ready status of this 140 PPI prototype marks a major step forward for the microLED industry. It signals that the technology is maturing and is on the cusp of broader commercialization. This development is expected to have a profound impact on various sectors, including consumer electronics, automotive displays, and digital signage. As the demand for high-resolution, energy-efficient, and durable displays continues to grow, the XDC and Lumileds collaboration offers a promising solution that could reshape the future of visual technology.
